There are no major Tamil or Hindi releases this Friday, the beginning of the great Indian summer season.
A Tamil film made for the Guinness Book of World Records Sivappu Mazhai, completed in less than 11 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes is the only release of the week.
Shivappu Mazhai stars newcomer Suresh Joachim and Meera Jasmine in the lead and is directed by Krishnamoorthy but has hardly any promotions. Will the dubbed Vivek Oberoi Prince releasing in nearly 80 screens take an opening?
Last week’s release Paiyaa is turning out to be a hit and it is sure going to become bigger. It has no opposition and is the automatic first preference among the family audiences for the holiday season ahead.
The earlier films with rave reviews are sure to pick up. The audiences who are yet to watch Gautham Menon’s hit Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa along with the repeat audiences are sure to make it an even bigger hit this summer. Similarly Ayngaran International Films Vasanthabalan directed Angadi Theru has also picked up.
Meanwhile the trade is worried about IPL television coverage. CSK’s performance and its crucial encounter with DC in Nagpur on Saturday afternoon, is causing anxiety as it will hit the matinee and evening shows.
