The abnormal devastating rains are finally over in Chennai. Theatres in and around Chennai were either closed or had limited shows during the floods. The multiplexes operated more as relief centres, as there were hardly any crowds.
Now the Kollywood industry is slowly limping back to normalcy. This Friday there are just two Tamil release – Aatharva Murali’s Eetti and a small film Thiruttu Rail.
The Telugu Ravi Teja starrer Bengal Tiger released on Thursday. The lone English release of the week is Snoopy And Charlie Brown The Peanuts Movie. Meanwhile earlier releases like Inji Idupazhagi, Uppu Karuvadu and Urumeen continue with Hindi Tamasha.
Two new multiplexes have become operational in Chennai this week SPI Cinemas Palazzo and PVR’s 5–screens multiplex at The Grand Mall in Velachery. The big question being asked in the trade is whether the footfalls will increase in Chennai this weekend after the deluge.
