There is a plethora of movies releasing this Friday for the big Valentine Weekend. Six Tamil, four English and one Hindi film have clogged the release pipe. There is a wide choice of movies for the Chennai audiences this week along with last week's left overs.
Among the six Tamil films which are releasing Prakash Raj produced, Radha Mohan directed and Lingusamy distributed Payanam has managed to get the best of screens and show timings in multiplexes and is releasing in nearly 150 screens in TN. Narain's long delayed Thambikottai too is releasing big with prime shows in multiplexes, thanks to the clout of its distributor Yokesh Pictures.
There are three other Tamil releases, comparatively small films which have got some shows somewhere and are releasing. Debutant director N Priyan directed Ivor, is a film with newcomers which is about friendship. Thamizhvanan made films like Kalvanin Kadhali and Machakaran and is now going to the village this time with Nandhi, another film with newcomers.
Then there are two more films which only want a theatre release and enter the records as films released in 2011, and also be shown on television as 'Puthan Puthu Padam'.
Ithu Kadhal Uthirum Kaalam is releasing as noon show in two small screens. Varnam is another in the same genre with unknown stars and limited screens.
From Hollywood the action entertainer featuring Jason Statham Mechanic is releasing big. The other two small films for multiplex niche audiences are Biutiful, No Strings attached and The Rite. Akshay Kumar's The Patiala House is also releasing along with the rest of the world.
