It is the crucial weekend at the Chennai Box-Office.
Four Tamil films with little known actors are releasing, along with Hindi, English, Telugu and Malayalam new releases. The Cricket world cup is starting on Saturday with India playing lowly rated Bangladesh.
Will the box-office crackle this week? The signs are good as Gautham Vasudev Menon's Nadunisi Naaygal, a film without any stars have taken very good opening through advance booking!
The multiplexes are very happy with advance booking, as tickets have been sold out for the weekend. If NN is able to hold on to its opening the film will be profitable in its first week due to the films micro-budget.
The other release is the upcoming actor Aadhi's family mass masala Aadu Puli. It is an action packed mass family drama starring Aadhi and Poorna in lead along with Prabhu, Ravichandran, K R Vijaya,and Nizhalgal Ravi. Producer Michael Rayappan of Global Infotainment who made films like Naadodigal, Goripalayalam and the recent Thenmerku Paruvakkatru is promoting it aggressively.
AMR Ramesh of Kuppi fame is back with his new film Kadhalar Kudiyiruppu. Anees and Shruthi play the romantic pair while Saranya Avinash and Ponvannan are also in the cast of this film based on a true story. Margazhi 16 is another little known film which is scheduled to release this Friday.
Among the Hindi films Vishal Bhardwaj's Priyanka Chopra and her seven husbands film 7 Khoon Maaf is releasing big in 10 Chennai screens. The curiosity around the film will give it a fantastic opening. Two English films Iam Number Four and Rabbit Hole are also releasing with Ram Gopal Varma's Telugu comedy KSD Appal Raju and Malayalam Race.
