The king of opening, Ajit is arriving today with his Sivaji Productions Aasal in nearly 350 screens worldwide.
The economics of an Ajit film is to go for a saturation release in as many screens as possible, and make money in the first week itself.
Ajit’s last release Aegan could not recover its cost as content was weak and it was overpriced.
Now Ajit and his team of director Saran, script writer Yuhi Sethu and producers Sivaji Productions have focused more on the content and style.
Ajit in a newspaper interview has said: “ It’ll be quite a package. There are no narcissistic scenes in the film. I hope it sets a benchmark for how a film should be.”
It clearly means Aasal is definitely going to be a turning point in the actor’s career. The film may take a good opening but the trade wants it to sustain for atleast two weeks before it can break even.
The conditions are good as there is no opposition this week and the earlier releases are losing steam. Now it is up to the star to deliver a hit.
