Traditionally, the second Friday of May is considered to be the best week of the year to release a Tamil biggie. However this year, it is Friday the 13th!
More important this summer it is the day when results to Tamil Nadu assembly elections are due. So all biggies have shifted date to June and only a handful of small movies are releasing in Tamil.
While Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai has released on Thursday (May 12), two little-known flicks, Sankaran Kovil and Suttrum Vizhi Sudare, are getting ready to release today the 13th (traditionally considered to be unlucky). Narthaki will hit screens on Saturday (May 14).
Among the lot Suseenthiran’s Azhagarsamiyin Kudirai will gallop ahead of others mainly because it is considered as a multiplex flick. The other two releases are with limited shows in single screens.
The big Hollywood action Vampire thriller The Priest is opening big along with its Tamil version. Vampire based action movies like Van Helsing were super hits in Chennai and B & C markets in Tamil Nadu.
