Gautham Vasudeva Menon is a gutsy guy. In the weekly column “love/hate” in “The Hindu”, Cinema Plus (Feb 8), he has ripped Vikram- Lingusamy Bheema to shreds!

The film Gautham loves is Mani Ratnam classic Nayakan, which he says is his “all time favourite film”. And why he hates Bheema, Gautham explains- “when you see Bheema, you are left wondering what Vikram saw in the narration and in the first place made him sign a film like this. The way it was made, it was a rip-off of so many films without a trace of originality running through it.”

The ace director further asks- “When you see a film that has a scene that reminds you of your own film, you don’t know whether they are trying to emulate you or imitate you… In so many places, it was like Thalapathy, like Company, like Kaakha Kaakha and the last scene was straight out of The Departed. More than being a film I hate, it was a film that completely disappointed me.”

Will Vikram and Lingusamy defend their much publicised “classic with never-seen-before stunning climax” ?
