Vijay’s big budget extravaganza and much awaited Gilli due for release on April 9 has been postponed for a week. Theatres have been told that the film will now release on April 16.
Though the reason for the postponement is not given out, rumours are that producer A M Ratnam’s creditors are putting pressure on him to settle his accounts before release. Another reason is that Vijay got cold feet after the Udaya debacle as the film has not even taken an opening.
Anyway the idea to release the film on April 9 to take the advantage of a long Easter weekend is now ruled out. And pushing the release date nearer to other biggies like Arul, Peralagan and other summer releases is not a happy thing for theatre owners who had booked Gilli thinking that the film would have no opposition for two weeks.
