The dubbing for Goa, the Kannada remake of the Tamil film by the same name Goa, is in progress with leading dubbing artistes providing the voice for the star cast. While the lead actor Komal, a comedian, dubbed for his role, dubbing artistes lent voice to the female star cast, which includes Sharmila Mandre and British model Rachel.
The shooting for the talkie portion of the movie, including the songs, has been completed. The movie was shot extensively in Goa and scenic and historical locations of Karnataka. The shooting of the movie was wrapped under 50 days. In addition to Komal and Sharmula, actors Sriki, Tarun Chandra, Sonu Gowda and Shruti are appearing in the lead roles.
Arjun Janya has composed the music for the movie, which is produced by Shankar Gowda, who incidentally is also acting in it. Goa was earlier titled as Punyatmaru but the producer decided to change the title to Goa on the day of the launch of the movie.
Surya had earlier directed the flop movie Yuga. The Kannada version has been modified to suit the local audiences, but the essence of the original movie will be retained.
Shankar Gowda’s previous film, Varada Nayaka, a remake of the hit Telugu movie, Lakshyam, met with average success at the BO.
He was supposed to produce another movie for Sudeep, but the plan did not materialize. Sharmiela Mandre and Sonu Gowda are staging a comeback to Sandalwood through Goa after a noticeable break from the industry.
Shankar Gowda recently announced another project with action queen Malashree titled Boys, which he is directed.
