Music composer turned actor GV Prakash Kumar’s first two films as hero-Darling and Trisha Ilana Nayanthara were big hits at the box office. The success of these two films earned GV as he is known in the industry, an image of an urban boy who can do rom-coms and slowly he got type-cast in similar films that fell into the same genre.
He was in search for the right time to break the preconceived image that he had among the audiences. When Bala’s Naachiyaar offer came his way, GV Prakash readily grabbed it, even if it was a very demanding one. With Naachiyaar, GV Prakash shut the mouth of all his critics and in fact, all the media houses raved about his performance in the film. After the teaser, Bollywood’s acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap praised GV Prakash for the stunning makeover.
In the film, GV played the innocent Kaathu, a slum boy who sells fruits for a living. The actor’s riveting performance in the climax with Jyothika is easily the best moment that every review had a detailed note.
It’s not an easy task for a budding actor to earn a good name in a film which has an ace actress like Jyothika but thanks to GV Prakash’s hard work and effort, reputed critics and media houses were in full praise for his performance. Even his detractors who constantly blamed GV Prakash for his adult comedy films were spellbound by the actor’s outstanding act in the film.
Naachiyaar has certainly kick-started a new journey for GV Prakash Kumar, the film showcased his acting prowess and the actor too has a promising lineup ahead. On the success of Naachiyaar, GV Prakash said “Bala sir has kick-started a new journey for all the actors who are associated with Naachiyaar. Whenever we complete a grade in schools, would get a great energy and confidence. Similarly, I’m beginning another chapter in my acting career with the confidence I gained from Naachiyaar”.
After Naachiyaar, GV Prakash’s most expected film is ‘Sarvam Thaala Mayam’, the comeback venture of cinematographer turned director Rajiv Menon, who has given classics like Minsara Kanavu and Kandu Kondein Kandu Kondein in the past.
GV Prakash will soon start shooting for ‘Pichaikkaran’ director Sasi’s emotional drama with actor Siddharth, he has also signed a film with ‘Aramm’ director Gopi Nainar. On the music front, GV Prakash has agreed to compose the songs and background score for Irudhi Suttru director Sudha Kongara’s next with Suriya.
