Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri is the biggest grosser in the history of Telugu cinema and is poised to touch the magic figure of Rs 35 to 40 Crore at the box-office. In Nizam area alone the film has done a whopping Rs 12 Crore, an unheard of figure, breaking Indra record and in US it has crossed Rs 2.5 Crore. The on-screen chemistry between Mahesh Babu and the audience is the key word to the success of Pokiri.
The next big hit is Venkatesh’s Lakshmi which according to trade estimate may collect Rs 22 Crore followed by the mythology Sri Ramadasu, which is also a super hit, that may touch the Rs 20 Crore figure. Now the latest we hear is that SS Rajamouli’s Vikramarkudu is also turning out to be a blockbuster.
It was the year of small budget movies made on budget of Rs 3 to 6 Crore which have turned out to be winners at the box-office. The big winners so far are Devadasu, Style, Ranam, 10th Class, Godavari, and Kithakithalu. Small movies doing well at box-office augers well for Tollywood.
