At a time when top stars charge a bomb to make an appearance or cut ribbons using such platforms for photo-ops and publicity (the money they often demand is exorbitant, though this can never be proved), here is a star who has voluntarily come forward to stand up for a social cause.
Hansika who is just 21 has become the brand Ambassador of “Chennai turns Pink, an awareness programme to create breast cancer awareness among urban women. She was in Chennai for a day taking time off her busy schedule to attend a press conference, officially launching a theme song and the Chennai turns pink programme.

Speaking to sify.com,
Hansika said: “ I was so impressed when I heard about this programme which will surely reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment. We hope that greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection, which is associated with higher long-term survival rates”
Hansika has pledged her support to this programme and also announced that she will be bearing the expense of 30 women who will be identified by the organisers, who are in utmost need of finance in the treatment of breast cancer. A noble gesture indeed!
The actress is already sponsoring the education of 22 kids in Mumbai. She not only personally oversees their well-being but finds time to spend with the kids at home and taking them out.
