Guess the hottest movie in Kollywood trade circuit? No, it is not the big K's- Kuselan, Kuruvi or Kandasamy, but Surya's Gautham Vasudeva Menon directed Vaaranam Aayiram!

The song trailer of the film premiered on sify.com evoked world wide response, a buyer in UK was willing to buy it for a whopping amount. A Mumbai based corporate offered a ridiculous Rs 27 crore for all rights of the movie, but producer Oscar Ravichandran was not "in a mood to negotiate!"

So what is it that makes Vaaranam Aayiram so hot in the market? First and foremost the magic combination of Surya and Gautham coming together nearly five years after the smash hit Khakka Khakka, two glamour girls Divya and Sameera Reddy, and Harris Jayaraj providing music for the last time with Gautham as they are temporarily parting ways.

Those who heard the songs from the film and also saw the trailer song (sung by Sruthi Hassan) picturisation say that Vaaranam Aayiram is going to be the album of the year. Added to that Gautham's takings and Surya's character in the film is going to enthrall the multiplex audiences. The trade points out that Gautham Menon films cater to the multiplex city audiences, and it is long time since such a film has come out.

Vaaranam Aayiram shoot is going on in and around New Delhi, four of the five songs has been completed and all shooting work will be over by February end. Menon is planning to concentrate fully on post production work during March-April.

If Oscar Ravi releases his magnum opus Dasavatharam on April 10, he will be in a position to open Vaaranum Aayiram worldwide on May 30 or June 7, at the end of the summer season. Sources close to Ravi says that he is actually planning to release the film on May 17, five weeks after Dasavatharam sweeps the box-office, and will have a different set of theatres for it. Unconfirmed news is that Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) has snapped the Tamilnadu theatrical rights of the film at an astronomical rate.
