H'wood mourns demise of 'James Bond' star Roger Moore

[India], May 24 (ANI): Sir Roger Moore, the iconic Hollywood star, died yesterday after a short "but brave battle with cancer," according to a statement by his family members.

The news of Moore's death has met with an outpouring of grief from celebrities on social media.

Hollywood celebrities like Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan, Russell Crowe and more extended their mourning on the star's death.

The 'Trumbo' star Bryan Cranston took twitter and wrote, "Saddened @sirrogermoore passed today. Had a great chat about acting & life 6 mo. ago. Generous and kind. RIP Mr. Bond."

Daniel Craig, who played Bond in last four films tweeted, "Nobody Does It Better - love Daniel," alongside a photo of Moore.

Another 'James Bond' actor, Pierce Brosnan also took to his Facebook page and shared a heartfelt message, which read, "Dear Sir Roger Moore, It is indeed with a heavy heart that I hear the news of your passing this morning. You were a big part of my life, from The Saint to James Bond.. .you were a magnificent James Bond and one that lead the way for me, the world will miss you and your unique sense of humor for years to come. My sincerest condolences to your family and children. RIP."

The Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe also tweeted, "Roger Moore ,loved him."

Actress-turned-activist Mia Farrow expressed her thoughts by saying, "Few are as kind & giving as was Roger Moore. Loving thoughts w his family & friends. He will be missed too by UNICEF."

Duran Duran, the iconic band which performed the title song for Moore's final Bond film, 'A View To Kill' paid tribute by posting the movie's poster and captioned it, "#RIP Roger."

The actor's family confirmed the news of his death through his Twitter handle. The post read, "With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated."

The actor was best known for being the third actor to play the British secret agent 'James Bond' in seven feature films between 1973 and 1985.
