Suriya`s KV Anand directed biggie, Maattrraan produced by AGS Entertainments held a press meet on Sunday to kick start promotions for the film due for release on October 12 release.
But for heroine Kajal Aggarwal the entire team met the media.
Suriya was upbeat when he spoke about the film, "Working for Maattrraan was like being with family and it`s been a whole team effort. It will be a milestone in my career. KV Anand has striven to give his best and each time he is always searching for something new to show in his movies. Apart from the comedy, emotions, action and romance, there is also an issue of social awareness in the film."
The actor cleared the air about comparisons to other films on conjoined twins, "We have been hearing about comparisons to other films and I want to say that writers Suba and KV Anand have been working on this concept and film for four years and there is no room for any comparisons or similarities with any other films."
Suriya added that the character of Agilan or Agi was the most challenging for him, since it was difficult to play such a completely irresponsible character, which is totally unlike him in real life!
Parts of the film have been shot in Latvia while a giant set resembling Russia was set up by Rajeevan in Ramoji Film City. Harris Jayaraj has worked doubly hard on the music since he had to convey the nuances of feelings of each of the twins. Five lyricists have written five songs in the film.
KV Anand concluded by saying that it was a delight to work with Suriya who was one unusual actor who loved to go for retakes till he got it right.
Anand has researched on the subject of conjoined twins with the help of several doctors in Chennai and has based his film on Ying and Chang, the 18th century conjoined twins in USA.
