Sanjjanaa Archana has come a long way ever since her sensational debut in Kannada movies in 2006. In the last five years, the actress has been part of several blockbusters in Kannada and Telugu movies. She also forayed into Malayalam and has lined up three releases this year in Mollywood. She also has 3 films each in Kannada and Telugu. However, the biggest development is that Sanjjanaa will be producing a movie very shortly in Kannada, thereby entering a territory, which very few actresses have even dared contemplating. But the actress makes it very clear that her career as an actor will continue alongside her new found passion for producing movies.

1. We heard that you plan to produce a movie; why the sudden shift?
Yeah, I am co-producing a movie in Kannada and the details will be announced shortly. I am also acting in that movie. I want to take more interest towards movie making, which I feel is a male dominant sector of the film industry! I want to lay a stronger foundation for women to follow suit. So I decided to start with film production.

2. You seem to have found a foothold in Tollywood
Two of my movies are in the making in Telugu. I am working harder and harder by the day as Tollywood is extremely competitive like Bollywood. One needs to do tremendous amount of ground work for a bit of name and fame in Telugu cinemas. Sometimes, I feel like I am on a 24-hours job working in Kannada and Telugu movies actively. In addition, I also have 3 films back-to-back, all as the main lead in Malayalam this year.

3. You have plenty of releases in Kannada. How did you manage to crack the big league?
I do not consider myself small or big. It is a cycle you see of hit and flop films. But I consider myself very honest and sincere. That is what has kept me going strongly in Kannada movies.

4. Your Malayalam foray has not gone in the expected direction; your thoughts?
I could not take up much of Malayalam movies because I genuinely did not find the script that I wanted and I waited for them patiently. Now, the best of my Malayalam movies are expected this year. In fact they are better than Kannada or Telugu movies in terms of my characters.

5. It looks like numerology has worked in your favour.
I just changed my spelling to make my mom happy as she was adamant that I should have a unique spelling to refer when they search for me on internet. I do not believe in astrology or numerology. I believe in doing my best and leaving the rest. Luck is a very big factor, but it still favours me (laughs).
