Hansika Motwani is more than giggles and gush. Today, she is on every top hero's wish list. Touted as the next big thing in Tamil cinema, Hansika is hard working, focussed and is a quick learner.

Not many child actors have made a successful transition to being a top heroine in cinema and pretty young girl from Mumbai is determined to reach the number one slot. Sridevi Sreedhar tries to untangle the child woman.

What is your current state of mind?
I am super excited, nervous and is keeping my fingers crossed. I have butterflies in my stomach. My debut films in Hindi and Telugu were super hits and so I am praying that Mappillai also turn out to be a money spinner (smiles)

Did you hear any reports of the film?
People who are close to the unit, who saw the first copy say that it is a rollicking entertainer. But I am so happy that market leaders Sun Pictures have snapped both my films Mappilllai and Engeyum Kadhal which will release simultaneously. I could not have asked for more.

How was it working with Dhanush and Manisha Koirala both very talented actors?
I was tense on the first day of my shoot but the entire unit including Vivek sir and director Suraj made me comfortable and they kept on calling me Chinna Kushboo, which made me happy. My journey so far in Kollywood has been wonderful and I look forward to becoming a part of the Tamil film family.

Do you enjoy doing commercial mass masala films?
(Laughs) I completely freak out on them. I love doing the song 'n' dance routing and I am a part of two big commercial films Velayudham with Vijay and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, which marks the debut of Udhayanidhi Stalin as hero. In Prabhu Deva directed Engeyum Kaadhal, I play a very classy girl who is born and brought up in Paris.

How about competition from other girls?
I believe that there is space for everyone and healthy completion is good as it brings the best in you. I approach my roles with honesty and put in a lot of hard work.

Who is your biggest inspiration in life?
It's my mother. She has worked hard for us and she is a super mom.
