Jayam Ravi with his angelic face and overwhelming innocence is among the top five young heroes in Kollywood.
The actor is keeping his fingers crossed as his ambitious film Engeyum Kaadhal releases today. Excerpts of a quick chat
You look very good in the promos of the film? Please comment?
Yes, you know something? (smiles) For the first time, I liked myself in the film. Prabhu Sir looked into every detail of my look- be it hair, clothes and body language. We shopped for my clothes in Paris and Nalini Sriram did a fantastic job.
Moreover the heroine played by Hansika had to fall in love with me at first sight, so I had to look my best (Laughs).
How was it shooting in France?
It was mind-blowing experience for me. Paris is a beautiful place and Nirav Shah's camera has made it even better. The milieu is picture perfect. We have shot in some very exclusive locales and a song was shot in Greece.
How was it working with Prabhu Deva?
He is such a fantastic person to work with. He knew how to extract the right expressions and today when I watch the promos, I am surprised at each and every expression of mine, which I never knew came from me.
You share a great on-screen chemistry with Hansika?
She is just in her teens and you can imagine her energy level and enthusiasm. She is sincere and hardworking for her age and we all worked like a family.
Any special moments during the EK shoot?
I can never forget Engeyum Kaadhal in my life as my son Aarav (Aarthi + Ravi) was born while I was shooting in Paris. I flew down for a day to see him. So this film is very special to me.
How is Aadhi Bhagavan progressing?
It is my first gangster film and I sport a beard and tuff look contrary to EK. The film is 80 percent complete and we have shot in Bangkok and Thailand. We will complete the film in Mumbai and Hyderabad soon.
