Hansika is undoubtedly ‘the’ Best Thing nowadays and her career is going great guns. Her sunshine smile is enough to restore your sense of humour. With her charming persona and phenomenal screen presence this young stunner is riding a wave in Kollywood.

Her sparkling performance and sizzling chemistry with Siddharth in Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (TVSK) worked wonders. The film has been declared a hit by the trade and makes her a comfortable contender for the number one slot in Kollywood.

Witty,Warm and bubbly, Hansika opens up to Sridevi Sreedhar three days after the release of TVSK. Excerpts of our meeting

Were you expecting this kind of success?
You connect with your character and if the movie connects with the audiences it works. Frankly, film is the king. I was excited about doing this film because of Sundar C sir. Looking back, it feels great to be a part of TVSK. The way Sundar sir portrayed Sanjana, the character I played in the film, the clothes, her mannerisms and the subdued performance –everything was in sync. Sir gave me a lot of freedom and all this resulted in perfect chemistry between all of us. Credit goes to all- the director, my co-stars, the technicians. It’s the combined hard work that touched a chord with the audience at such a huge level.

Everyone unanimously say that you looked a million bucks in TVSK. Please comment.
It sounds great. A compliment like that for a film as big as TVSK is fantastic. I’m happy and want to hug all the people who said that (laughs).

Your teaming with Santhanam has always worked
Santa is a versatile actor. He is spontaneous and he can make everyone laugh. It’s always been a pleasure to work with him. We did OKOK, Settai and TVSK and he is there in Vaalu and Singam 2.

Do you now feel the need to break out of your bubbly actress image and try more versatile roles?
No one can categorise me on the basis of six films. All my roles have had a different spark. I’ll never give a run-of-the-mill performance, one that can get me categorised. But let me be frank that I love doing comedy and love to entertain people with feel-good films. I’m only just beginning my career ad have lots to explore and would love to choose a film based on the whole package and script being the most important.

Are you tensed about Singam-2 release?
(Smiles) Every film is important for me. I play a school girl in some portion of the film and I’m sure everyone will love my character.

Your future projects?
In Telugu, I am doing the 'Golmaal' remake which is fast progressing. Singham-2 is ready for release.  Vaalu, Biriyani, Vettai Mannan and an untitled film which is a remake of Ishq from Telugu is on floors. I have also signed a film with Sivakarthikeyan .
