The unit members of the film Kulasekaranum kulipadayanum and the members of FEFSI jointly celebrated the birthday of legendary maestro Ilayaraja in a grand manner at the Prasad studios this morning.

The function was attended by Ilayaraja who cut a cake presented by the organisers in the presence of Rama Narayanan, Fefsi G Siva, VC Guhanathan,Natraj and others. Food was distributed to three orphanages and to FEFSI workers on the occasion.

G siva recounted how difficult it was to get Ilayaraja to agree to come for such an event since he shunned publicity but when he heard annadhanam would be done, he agreed. Speaking on the occasion Ilayaraja said "My birthday is not today but falls on June 3rd. But since that is the Kalaignars birthday also, I celebrate on 2nd not wanting to keep it on the same day. I have no birthday message but would like to wish the Semmozhi Manaadu on this day. I am happy that children are being fed today."

When asked by reporters about his musical heir he said "No one is anyone’s heir since the world belongs to everyone. I don’t have any musical heir to proclaim". Later he cut another cake presented by son Karthik Raja inside his recording studio in the presence of several singers and well wishers.
