India Design ID 2013 to help promote global designs

New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) With top-notch architects and real estate developers to interior designers participating, the first edition of India Design ID 2013 is the first-of-its-kind definitive design week in the country aiming to establish India on the global design map.

"Bringing the best of global designs to the capital, ID 2013 is a chance for creators and brands to present themselves on an international platform that is first-of-its-kind, placing the nation on the global design map and establishing a strong Indian design vocabulary," said Archana Pillai, founding member of India Design 2013.

The three-day event, organised by Ogaan group, will start Feb 15 at NSIC Grounds, here.

ID 2013 comprises of three divisions -- Exhibit ID, ID Symposium and ID satellite-style and the city. These three divisions will bring together design experts to share their experiences, knowledge and aesthetics through exhibitions, installations and discussions.

Exhibit ID will display innovative and cutting edge design in high-end home decor and ID Symposium will see design gurus sharing knowledge and expertise through interactive sessions and discussions. ID satellite will aim to take design to the streets of the capital through events and collaborations in different part of the city.

The event also targets lessening the gap between consumers and creators.

"It is an innovative concept, it is not only a platform for inspiration and network but also showcases commerce and creative side of designs. I think this event will have a very high style quotient by virtue of the participating company that we have or even the profile of speakers. We are looking to do this annually," Sonia Bajaj, publisher, Elee decor, told IANS.

Pramiti Madhavji, editor-in-chief, Elle decor said they have been working on conceptualising the event since 2007.

"The process actually started in 2007 and it was supposed to launch in 2008 then we had to pull the plug when the economy went haywire. The whole purpose of doing this event is to promote business of design in whatever way, so we pulled the plug that time but we restarted thinking about it an year ago. We thought now it is time to restart and relaunch," Madhavji told IANS.
