'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and 'Son Of Sardaar' have managed a grand opening at the box office with the Diwali release.
Trade pundit predicts that the movies' box office collection will cross Rs.100 crore mark. Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif starrer JTHJ was released on 2,500 screens and it has reportedly collected Rs.15.23 crores all over India.
While the Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt starrer SOS collected Rs.10.72 crores from 2,000 screens in the country.
But as far as overseas markets are concerned Jab Tak Hai Jaan has raced ahead by a massive margin. The movie is faring exceptionally well in U.K., U.S.A., U.A.E. and Australia. In New Zealand, where the film opened on Wednesday, the film has created History by being the first Hindi film to open at No 1 position, overtaking the business of Hollywood biggies on that particular day.
There has been a lot of pre-release buzz around both the films. Plus they have the advantage of festive occasion and extended weekend to mint more money.
Late filmmakers Yash Chopra's last directorial JTHJ has reportedly been made at a budget of Rs.50 crores, while director Ashwni Dhir's SOS said to be costlier with expenses of Rs.80 crores. (ANI)
