Kolkata, Feb 23 (IANS) National Award winning filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta says his upcoming Bengali movie 'Janala' (The Window) deals with small dreams and how twists of fate can leave them unfulfilled.

'The film is about times when we all try to fulfil small and simple dreams but turns of destiny leave those dreams unfulfilled,' said Dasgupta, who has several National Awards in his kitty, including for best film and best direction.

The movie revolves around an urban couple Bimal (Indraneil Sengupta) and Meera (Swastika Mukherjee). On a visit to his old school, Bimal witnesses the ill condition of the building, especially a window, through which he once used to look outside.

He decides to gift the school with a new window without informing his fiancee. The headmaster of the school, which is under the grip of village politicians, is annoyed by Bimal's gift and rejects it.

'Indraneil is a very good actor. He has done well in the film. This is the first time we have worked together,' Dasgupta told IANS in an interview Wednesday.

When asked whether he was expecting another National Award for this film, Dasgupta said: 'I never make films thinking whether I will get an award or not. Earlier when my films received several awards, I didn't make those films thinking of an award.'

The film has already been premiered in the Masters of World Cinema section at Toronto International Film Festival. It has also been premiered at London Film Festival, Mumbai Film Festival, Hong Kong Asian Film Festival, Dubai Film Festival and many other film fests.

The film has already received critical appreciation from audiences across the globe.

It has been produced by Reliance Big Pictures and is scheduled to release Feb 25.
