“My dad used to take the extra risk by investing beyond the stipulated budget for my films and now, Vijay has done it in Vanamagan”, said Ravi while interacting with the media here in Chennai. Only a super passionate director like Vijay can pull off a film like Vanamagan, added Ravi.
“I’m sure Vanamagan will become a box office hit. If anything negative happens, ready to do a film without any remuneration for Vijay. I’m saying this in front of the media so that can’t run away after the release. Maybe, we can do that film on profit sharing basis”, chuckled Ravi.
Ravi also spoke high on Vanamagan’s heroine Sayyeshaa hinting that she would become a big heroine in Tamil cinema. On Harris Jayaraj, Ravi said: “Harris sir have given me two great albums —Engeyum Kaadhal and Dhaam Dhoom in my career. Now, Vanamagan is his recent best. Proud to act in his 50th film”.
Director Vijay expressed his disappointment on distributors, who are not buying films based on the content. “Tamil cinema is in a bad state. In Telugu, producers like Dil Raju are in the industry for a long time but Tamil producers couldn’t sustain. Films like Sangamithra and Baahubali will happen only with the support of people in the trade, hope Producer Council looks into this issue”, said the director.
Vijay has also said that without Ravi, Vanamagan wouldn’t have happened. The film is all set to release on June 23 targeting the Ramzan weekend.
