Madhuri Dixit Nene on Friday promoted her upcoming movie 'Gulaab Gang' in the city of joy and said her co-star Juhi Chawla is not her "competitor".
The film stars Juhi Chawla in a negative role.
It is based on women empowerment and even gives out a powerful message of educating women which is the need of the time.
Talking about sharing the screen with Juhi, Madhuri said, "We were not competitors but we were contemporaries. It was wonderful working with her.We both have different roles to play in the movie."
On Kolkata, she said, "I love the sweets here as Kolkata is the land of food. I am a foodie. I even did a movie called 100 days directed by a Bengali director."
"I have done commercial cinema like Beta, Dil, Tezaab which had different roles and powerful. Times have changed now; a lot of women are directing movies and are script writers," the actress said.
"Director Soumik Sen writes scripts about women and has respect for women. We are lucky to have directors like this who offers women oriented roles. I loved the script because of the good and evil role both played by women," she added.
The film features Madhuri in the central role of the protagonist and Juhi as a politician, enacting a negative role for the very first time in her career.
The movie is scheduled to hit the silver screen on Mar 7.
