Veteran director K Bhagyaraj has stepped down from his post as the President of the South Indian Writers Association.
Bhagyaraj says that during the Sarkar plagiarism issue, he had faced bitter moments as his son Shathanoo was attacked on social media by Vijay fans. His family is very close to Thalapathy family, is a well known fact. But against all odds, Bhagyaraj who had become the President of SWAN without any opposition, took a neutral stand in the Sarkar issue.
Bhagyaraj backed assistant director Varun in the Sarkar plagiarism issue and also got him a recognition from the film’s director AR Murugadoss. Bhagyaraj says that the association must undergo a lot of changes to function properly.
The veteran director believes that he has done his duty with perfection and didn’t take any sides in the Sarkar issue. K Bhagyaraj's resignation comes at a time when another veteran director Bharathiraaja has taken side with his associate Suresh with plagiarism charges against Prem Kumar the writer/director of 96.
