The maverick director has also revealed that the film is based on the backdrop of Indian Air Force.
"Even now Rahman searches for new sounds suiting the genre the film he is working and that's why he has reached great heights", praised Mani Ratnam.
AR Rahman was as usual ended his speech by thanking Mani Ratnam and Vairamuthu. Karthi, who worked as an assistant director with Mani Ratnam in Aayutha Ezhuthu recalled his early days.
"I feel honored to play a fighter pilot in the film. After knowing their tough life style, found a new respect for the film that at least I would stand whenever I get a chance to meet them", said Karthi. The actor also thanked Rahman for the wonderful songs and cinematographer Ravivarman for the grand visuals.
Suriya, who was there at the audio launch for his brother Karthi exclaimed how Mani Ratnam has been portraying romance in a different angle.
The makers also screened a new trailer with romance and action in equal proportions. Kaatru Veliyidai is all set to release on April 7.
