Movie Title

Kadalai

Director

Sagayasuresh

Star Cast

Ma Ka Pa Anand, Ponvannan, Yogi Babu, Aishwarya Rajesh,

Ma Ka Pa Anand seems to be largely inspired by Sivakarthikeyan and in Kadalai, he follows the same formula of playing a carefree youth in this rural comic entertainer to convey a much needed message to the society.

Manickam( Ma Ka Pa Anand) is the son of a passionate farmer Boopathy (Ponvannan). While Boopathy wants him to study agriculture, Manickam does not think much about it and considers it as waste of time. Meanwhile, there is a greedy real estate agent (John Vijay), who plans to buy 500 acres farming land in Manickam's locality but Boopathy convinces every farmer and ensure that they never sell their lands.

But the real estate agent sketches a plan and appoints Manickam as his company's representative to buy the farming lands. Can he succeed?

Kadalai's biggest strength is Yogi Babu, the actor brings the roof down with his uncanny body language and quirky dialogue delivery , he is undoubtedly in super form these days. Compared to his previous movies, Ma Ka Pa Anand has done a neat job while actor Ponvannan is quite adequate. However the film's major drawback is John Vijay, the actor's over the top acting and loud dialogue delivery turns irritating after a point!

The first half of Kadalai is quite entertaining, thanks to Yogi Babu and Ma Ka Pa Anand duo but slowly the film becomes predictable after the arrival of John Vijay.

Though director Sagaya Suresh's idea of conveying the importance of farming is laudable, he falls short in convince us with an engaging screenplay in the second half. CS Sam's songs and background score are good while the visuals of Raghav are eye catchy.

Kadalai is definitely one step higher than Ma Ka Pa Anand's previous films, thanks to the entertaining first half and a good message but still things could've been better.

Kadalai review-Verdict : Average
