Radhakrishnan Parthiben?s Kathai Thirakathai Vasanam Iyakkam (KTVI) touted as a ?A movie without a story?, is decent and fresh approach to filmmaking. The story is about cinema within cinema, and how difficult it is to conceive something new in commercial Tamil cinema.

The movie revolves around Thamizh (Santhosh Pratap) and his group of friends Arvind (Dinesh), Shirley(Sahithya), Murali(Vijay Ram) and Seenu(Thambi Ramaiah) who are all waiting to make it big at the movie industry. Tamizh is a dedicated writer and struggling filmmaker married to an IT professional Daksha (Akila Kishore), the bread winner. Murali and his associate mainly the veteran Seenu (Thambi Ramaiah) are struggling to put together a script and looking for a producer for their maiden venture.

The film works largely on Parthipan?s smart writing and his humour laced sarcastic dialogues. The director also comes as a heavenly ?Suthradhar? who moves the story forward. His inside knowledge of the film industry has been stitched to the story to make it interesting.

Among the actors Thambi Ramaiah steals the show as an old failed assistant director with two wives and a sense of humour. The way he tracks down producers is interesting. Vijay Ram is ok, while Akila Kishore comes with a great performance. Arya, Amala Paul, Vijay Sethupathy, Vishal make brief appearances in cameos. Technically there is nothing much to talk about the film.

KTVI?s real hero is Parthipan as director he has made something different from the beaten track. However post interval, it loses its pace with an abrupt ending. Will our hero get the break or not is left to the viewers. Throughout the film the underlining message is the beauty of life is nobody knows what happens next. Everything is 50:50.On the whole, Parthipan has once again reinvented himself with a fabulous screenplay and reminds us how good a writer he is. ?KTVI? is indeed a worthy addition to his repertoire.
