Director Thangar Bachchan is a busy man these days. His pet project, Ayngaran International Film Media Pvt Ltd’s Kalavadiya Pozhuthugal is well underway and racing to completion.
The film sees the comeback of Prabhu Deva as an actor after a long gap. Based on the novel written by the director himself, the film is a realistic love story which features four characters played by Prabhu Deva, Prakash Raj, Bhumika and Inbanila. The lyrics are by Vairamuthu while the music is by Bharadwaj.
Sathyaraj plays a cameo as Periyar, in a song that featured nearly 5000 junior artists, shot a few months ago. The seventh film of Thangar Bachchan, he feels it’s a milestone in his career. “This is the first time I myself am eager to see my own film on screen,” he reveals.
He adds: “Every film reveals the age of a director in the way it is made and the thoughts puts forth. But this film is such a mature story that it puts me in the age group of a Bhimsingh or a Sridhar and does not portray my real age.”
Bachchan is ecstatic about the performances he has elicited from each actor. “I think it’s the best performance of each of them. Prakash Raj accepted the story as soon I narrated it to him.”
Prabhu Deva plays a cab driver and he comes in three get-ups and is called Chezhiyan in the film. Bhumika plays the character of Jayanthi. Prakash Raj plays a rich man. Talking about the music Bachchan says, “This is my third film with Bharadwaj. I owe fifty percent of the success of the film to Vairamuthu and Baradwaj for the songs.”
Getting ready for a Divali release, the film is eighty percent complete. “Producers Karunamoorthy and Arun Pandian gave me complete freedom and that’s one of the reasons the film has turned out so well,” concludes Bachchan.
