On Sunday evening Kamal Haasan confirmed that his Vishwaroopam will be shown on DTH. It will be a one-time show on DTH, a few hours before the film releases in theatres.
Kamal claims that he is doing it for producers who will get a new revenue stream. It will be the first time a film will be shown on DTH anywhere in the world, before its theatrical release.
Kamal Haasan says Vishwaroopam on DTH will cost approximately Rs 1000 for one pay per view. He claims the DTH technology is such that it cannot be downloaded and pirated.
He will be meeting theatre people and explaining to them about Vishwaroopam on DTH. Kamal says there is nothing like watching a movie in a theatre and that experience will not be there sitting at home and watching it on television.
It is now confirmed that Vishwaroopam will be first shown on DTH platforms before its theatrical release on January 11.
