Kamal Haasan in an interview to a national daily has confessed that he is influenced by world cinema.

Ever since he saw Bergman’s Touch at SafireTheatre (now defunct) in the then Madras, he had become a fan of world classics.

The influence of foreign cinema (read Rossellini, Fellini, and Bergman) can be seen in Kamal films.

The ace actor and director say that festivals like Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) are events that are important and shape our future and influence in filmmaking.

The master actor agreed that foreign cinema has influenced the way he made films and Viswaroopam his forthcoming film will be proof of that.

Kamal confessed: “Viswaroopam is not the regular Tamil cinema fare. But it will satisfy my people. I know it. Thevar Magan is not the regular fare. You can see I’m a man exposed to international cinema- the way I shoot, the way I write , the way the characters are, the way a scene ends or begins abruptly, it’s all the influence of world masters on me.”
