Kamal Haasan has started the shoot of his new film tentatively titled Papanasam. The film is the Tamil remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam and is directed by Jeethu Joseph who had directed the original.

Papanasam shoot is taking place from today in locations near Tirunelveli in southern Tamil Nadu. The film has Gauthami doing Meena’s role and all important Kalabhavan Mani playing the dirty cop.

The Tamil remake has been hounded by controversies and legal issues. Malayalam script writer Satheesh Paul approached the court saying the film is a copy of his story which is published as a book titled "Oru Mazhakalathu" in May 2013.

The court has now asked Jeethu Joseph to proceed with caution and has asked him and the producers to give a bank guarantee of Rs 10 lakhs before the court.  The Tamil version has started after Jeethu and producers compiled by the court order.
