Director R S Vimal has demanded that Kanchanamala, on whose life was his Ennu Ninte Moideen was based, should return the tainted hero Dileep’s 30 lakh contribution for building B P Moideen Seva Mandir.
Vimal says that he had approached Kavya Madhavan with the project, initially. By then he had already made a documentary on the subject. Kavya wanted to narrate it to Dileep.
Dileep was initially ready but backed out later. Eventually the film was made with Prithviraj and Parvathy playing Moideen and Kanchanamala respectively. Ennu Ninte Moideen became one of highest grossers ever in Malayalam cinema history.
Then Dileep surfaced and met Kanchanamala, who was not in good terms with Vimal. He gave a 30 lakh contribution to build a Seva Mandir in memory of Kanchanamala’s lover B P Moideen, who had died even before the love birds got married.
The hero also offered Vimal to mediate in the issue. “I asked him who he was to involve in the issue?” said Vimal during a TV debate.
Vimal says it won’t be appropriate to have Dileep’s name in that monument of romance.
