Superstar Rajinikanth’s eagerly awaited Kochadaiiyaan had a royal audio launch today (March 9) morning at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai. The film directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin has music by the Oscar winner AR Rahman.

The entire cast and crew of the film produced by Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment were present on the occasion. Superstar Rajinikanth, Deepika Padukone , Jackie Shroff, Sharatkumar, Aadhi,  Sound designer Resul Pookutty, producer Murali Manohar and KS Ravikumar along with the chief guest Shah Rukh Khan made it a very glitzy event. Also present were the veteran and Rajinikanth’s guru K Balachandar, SP Muthuraman, lyricist Vairamuthu  and superstar’s favourite director Shankar.

The security around the theatre was tight as thousands of fans turned up to have a glimpse of their Thalaivar. A huge crowd of Rajinikanth fans had gathered inside the auditorium and cheered every moment of the event.

The theatrical trailer of Kochadaiiyaan was screened in 3D. It was pure mass and was far superior to the teaser. The trailer showed all the nuances of a Rajinikanth movie – style and punchlines. Later the 2D Hindi trailer of the film was shown.

Soundarya in her welcome speech harped on the fact that “Kochadaiiyaan is India’s first performance capture photorealistic film and not a cartoon movie.” She stressed her point by showing an impressive making of the film and how performance capture was done.

Then an awesome Rudrathandavam dance sequence featuring the superstar was shown. The animation quality was perfect and the scene is sure going to click with the masses, as Rajinikanth charisma works.

After that it was a long speech marathon by the veteran director’s K Balachandar, SP Muthuraman and lyricist Vairamuthu. All of them waxed eloquent about Rajinikanth the man and the actor.  KB recalled the first scene he shot with Rajnikanth for Aboorva Ragangal. He says that he knew history will be created. SP Muthuraman added: “When Rajini, in his first movie, opened the gate and walked in, he walked right into our hearts.” Vairamuthu said: “Kochadaiiyaan is the other name for Lord Shiva.”

AR Rahman was amazed that Soundarya could deliver an animation film in two years, while it takes almost four to five years to make a similar film in Hollywood.  AR Rahman said : “ Kochadaiiyaan would be a door opener for south Indian films globally, and would be recognised.”

Deepika Padukone was looking beautiful in a designer sari.  Deepika said : “ Kochadaiiyaan was a total experience for me. Rajni sir and family treated me like his daughter and Lataji used to send me homemade vegetarian food to the sets.  I hope all will welcome the movie.”

Shah Rukh Khan the chief guest at the event was all praise for Kochadaiiyaan. Said SRK : “Indian cinema is going to reach new heights with Kochadaiiyaan. The special effects and graphics are awesome”.

Rajinikanth concluded the audio launch by saying that he is looking forward to the release of the film. Rajinikanth explained: “ I love Raja Rani stories a lot. It was my desire to do a historical pic. When Rana could not be done, I was a bit sad, but then came along Kochadaiiyaan.  I want to repay my fans for their love by doing a super techno movie. I’m sure everybody including children will love it.”
