On Tuesday, Justice Krishnan Ramaswamy issued an interim stay against the release of Nayanthara’s Kolayuthir Kaalam which is scheduled to hit the screens on June 14.
Director Balaji Kumar of Vidiyum Munn fame filed a case against the film’s Tamil Nadu distributor Mathiyalagan for using the title ‘Kolayuthir Kaalam’. Balaji has paid Rs 10 lakhs and got the film adaptation rights of Sujatha’s novel Kolayuthir Kaalam and he is planning to make it as a film. But without getting prior permission, Chakri Toleti and the makers of the Nayanthara starrer titled their film as Kolayuthir Kaalam.
But Mathiyalagan says he has already registered the title in Tamil Film Producers Council planning to legally vacate the stay in the court. We have to wait and see how things progress in this issue which has become the cynosure of all eyes.
