The summer season at the Kollywood box-office is in full swing. The May 1 releases – Ethir Neechal is turning out to be a super hit while Soodhu Kavvum has been getting a lot of critical acclaim.
And this Friday (May 10) Nagaraja Chozhan MA MLA is getting a good buzz and may open well. But a lot of reshuffle of release dates is also taking part. Films which were slotted for May have gone to June and there is trade talk that TVSK release will be advanced from June to May.
On May 17 Red Giants are coming out with the talked about Neram. On May 24 there is Bharath’s long awaited 555. The Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu (555) publicity campaign has already started. It will be followed by Dhanush’s Mariyan on May 31. Aascar Ravi who was earlier thinking of May 24 release has pushed it by a week to May 31, as he does not want to clash with IPL finals.
Meanwhile due to IPL popularity Sun Pictures has postponed the release of their Sasikumar Kutti Puli from May 17 to June 14. The film has already been censored with an UA certificate and is now confirmed for a June 14 release.
At the same time the big buzz is that UTV Motion Pictures are planning to advance the release of their Sundar C comedy entertainer Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (TVSK) from June 14 to May 31.
The film is waiting for censor and UTV bosses feel that they can cash in on releasing TVSK the first Friday after IPL finals. It looks like TVSK will clash with Dhanush’s Mariyan on May 31.
