In Bollywood all top actors take time and adopt unique and innovative marketing strategies to promote their respective films. This creates a huge positive buzz around the film and attracts the audiences to watch the film in its opening weekend.
In Tamil almost all top actors and a surprisingly few struggling heroes shy away from attending press meets and doing promotions and think that after the shooting is is over, it is the producer's job to do the rest! They think that just by putting up billboards, media advertisements and getting help from social media influencers are enough to promote their films.
As Big B said some time back: "Good marketing has produced good results at the box office. That old belief that the merit of the film shall eventually emerge victorious has long since been overridden. By the time you wait for the merit to show its face, five other films have shown their merits"
Among the handful of actors who go all out to promote their film, it is the fastest rising star Sivakarthikeyan who aggressively promotes his films. Now as his Christmas release Velaikkaran, the last biggie of 2017 gets ready for release on Dec 22, the actor is on a promotional binge.
After an initial round of promotions in Chennai, Sivakarthikeyan will be visiting Kochi today evening to interact with the media. Since Fahadh Faasil is playing a pivotal role in Velaikkaran, and Nayanthara is immensely popular there, there is a good buzz around the film in Kerala. Siva will also be visiting Andhra, another lucrative market for him.
Produced by RD Raja’s 24 AM Studios, the film’s director Mohan Raja had earlier said that Velaikkaran will be an important film in Sivakarthikeyan’s career. The conflict between Sivakarthikeyan and Fahadh Faasil is said to be the major highlight of the film, which is all set to release on December 22.
