Kumar Govind, who shot to limelight in the 90s, seems to be making a desperate attempt to stage a final comeback to Sandalwood. He has announced a new project titled Mastermind, which went on the floors recently. Govind is producing as well as directing the movie, which is expected to be a suspense thriller. However, Govind will not be seen on the big screen. It means Govind is trying to be seen in a different avatar.
The lead actor of Mastermind is Raj Vardhan, a new comer. Kumar Govind had announced his arrival in style in 1993 through Shhh! a horror-suspense movie way back in 1993. The movie, which was maverick actor Upendra’s second project as director, was a blockbuster and won several awards.
Subsequently, Govind was seen in another hit Kannada movie Anuraga Sangama. But Kumar Govind could not sustain success and he faded from the big screen. He tried to make a strong comeback through Sathya, a psychological thriller, which he directed and acted in. Unfortunately, the movie was a BO disaster. Since then, Kumar Govind maintained a low profile.
He surprised Sandalwood when he announced his new project. His old friend and mentor Upendra was the chief guest for the launch of the movie. Mastermind has two female leads – Tamanna and Divya – both are new faces and trying their luck in Sandalwood. Kumar Govind has selected top technicians for this project, which he hopes will be a hit movie because of innovative storyline.
