And 2012 was not short of its highs and laws translating into landmark moments that defined the year. Let's take a look!
The bitter-sweet tale of Barfi!
Anurag Basu's Barfi! released on September 14, 2012 and became a huge commercial and critical success.
However, shortly after the film was sent as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film nomination for the 85th Academy Awards, there was a palpable dissent.
Anurag Basu was accused by the media of lifting scenes from films like City Lights, Singing in the Rain and The Notebook. Websites and blogs revelled in providing exact film clips that Basu had borrowed from.
Sadly, the film didn't even make it to the first round of the Oscar nominations where nine films are chosen from the 70 plus movies.
