An aspiring filmaker (Aari) meets a girl in an upmarket coffee shop and in a matter of few minutes fall in love with her. The pretty girl (subha) who is all set to go to Australia for higher studies sitting across his table throughout the film except for few songs also falls for the boy?s charm!

The coffee shop has another couple (Balaji, Tejaswini) who are on the verge of divorce and their son, a writer who is writing the script of his new fim, the shop owner (Subbu) who is in financial crisis, two waiters and the premise is set for the film.

Debutant director Narayan Raghavendra Rao has tried out an experimental film which is preachy, monotonous and moves at snail pace. To some extent, Achu's music is the saving grace, but that's only because everything else about it is so seriously flawed. To be entirely honest, we didn't quite understand what the film was trying to say in the first place.

Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathile suffers also on account of its uninspired leads, who appear bored out of their wits going through their scenes. They fail to strike up any romantic chemistry whatsoever, and perform so monotonously, you can't be blamed for disconnecting from their supposed love or angst.

Verdict: Bore
