Suriya’s AGS Entertainment’s Maattrraan has taken a good opening, in its opening weekend (Oct 12 to 14) in Tamil Nadu.
The film has netted an impressive Rs 19.15 Crore from 400 plus screens in TN. In Kerala the film has taken the best opening for a Tamil film in 2012, with a net of Rs 2.86 Crore from 95 odd screens.
Maattrraan survived the initial negative reports about the film being too long at 2 hours and 47 minutes, as it was trimmed by the producers by 21 minutes. At 2 hours and 26 minutes the film has become even racier and audiences are enjoying it.
The collections of the film have improved in TN after it was trimmed. Some unnecessary scenes which brought about the drag have been chopped.
The family audiences are being attracted to the film due to Suriya playing conjoined twins and the comedy in the first half. And with a series of holidays coming from next weekend, Mattrraan’s collections will be on the overdrive, as there is no competition.
