Mohanlal's B.Unnikrishnan directed Madambi which released last Friday in 61 screens in Kerala, has turned out to be a super hit. The film has grossed a whopping Rs 1.37 crores for three days from the releasing stations in Kerala.
Suresh Shenoy of Shenoys, Ernakulam says: " Madambi has taken a fantastic opening, the best ever for a Malayalam film in recent times. In the opening weekend it has done an amazing 100 percent. The family audiences seem to be loving the movie."
In Mohanlal heartland of Thiruvananthapuram district, for the first time, the star’s film is releasing in seven screens in the district including B stations like Nedumangad, Vettu Road, Paripally, Kalikavilla etc.
All these small stations has reported 110 to 120 percent capacity, as extra seats were put to accommodate the crowds.
Mohanlal as Puthenveetil Gopalakrishna Pillai has taken the viewers by storm. His introduction scene in a 'Pooja room' where he chants in his own voice " Ganesha saranam, saranam ganesha…" is making the crowd go into a frenzy.
The punchline dialogue- Njaan aayitu aarkum budhimutuundakulla.Veruthe budhimuttuundakiyal athu budhimuttuaakume, athu thangathilla ketto, has become popular with the star's fans. And both the songs - Kalyanakacheri… and Amma Mazhakarunu.., have become super hits.
On the whole Madambi looks likely to be Mohanlal's long elusive super hit. Since no big films are releasing for Onam, the film is likely to run for 100 days till Ramzan (Oct 1).
