Madarangi, a movie featuring TV-artiste-turned film actor, Krishna, in the lead role, has turned a sleeper hit with the movie successfully running close to 25 days in theatres at several centres in Karnataka. This is the third Kannada movie, featuring new-comers, which has made an impact at the BO in 2013.

While Gombegala Love came in for critical acclaim, Simpleaag Ondu Love Story recently completed 75 days in theatres. Now, it looks like Madarangi is headed the same way with director Mallikarjun coming out with a winner. Earlier, Mallikarjun had directed the flop movie Auto.

The protagonist Krishna shot to fame by acting in the popular TV serial Krishna Rukmini. He has been successful in his first attempt as a hero on the silver screen. Produced by his father, Nagappa, under the banner of Krishna movies, Madarangi has romance as the theme. While the hero is a college student, the heroine is the daughter of a billionaire. Their encounter on the college campus is the storyline. Sushma Raj and Kavya Shetty are the female leads of the movie. Both Sushma Raj and Kavya Shetty have been flooded with offers of new film projects.

Emerging music composer Anup Seelin composed five melodious tracks of which Darling Darling has become a hit track. Madarangi has been appreciated for its innovative narration of a love story. The dialogue and screenplay form the highlight of the movie. The movie has a good dose of comedy through Sadhu Kokila.
