Madonna has been rocking and reinventing pop music, the music industry and fashion for several decades now. While her 1984 No. 1 album, Like a Virgin, brought her international acclaim, the 1989 critical and commercial hit, Like a Prayer, solidified her global domination.

In the noughties, her box-office take has been in the millions—she earned $319 million from 116 shows in 2004; in 2006, her ‘Confessions’ tour pulled in $194 million; and in 2008 she is on pace to top that number with the ‘Hard Candy’ tour. We take a look at her life through pictures.
