And she's getting quite a few, thanks to her new video interview to Variety, where she talks of India being regressive. She also reworked facts for her western 'fans' when she claimed she was the first woman to wear a bikini on screen, and to smooch on screen! Whoa! (To watch the video, scroll to the bottom.)
Priyanka Chopra came out strongly against Mallika's interview. "I think we are a progressive nation. I disagree that we are a regressive nation," said the actress.
"We are all sitting here and talking about educating the girl child, taking our country forward. I think it's a misrepresentation of what our great nation is on the world platform," Priyanka added. "It was something of which I felt extremely offended by."
Mallika's 'rival' Sherlyn Chopra also had her two bits to add: Had India been "regressive" & "depressing", people such as myself would've been outta work... Why endorse a prejudicial opinion of INDIA???!!!"
But none of the backlash has affected Mallika. In fact, she's proud of it all.
"I said what's happening to women in India is regressive and depressing and I stand by it # RAPE."
