The little Miss Sunshine of Tamil cinema is glowing. She surprised us last week by speaking her mind and going public about her relationship status. In this quick chat with Sridevi Sreedhar, Hansika opens up
What’s on your mind?
Its work, work and more work.
You created a sensation when you openly admitted on Twitter that you are seeing Silambarasan aka STR?
You want me to keep lying and denying about it? We are together and I think people should stop giving too much importance to it. For me, my career is of prime importance right now. I am currently working on four films and Biriyani gets ready for September release. I am in talks with two big projects in Tamil and Telugu and will be signing them in a few weeks time. So my hands are full.
Is marriage on the cards?
Not in near future, say not at least for a few years from now. You reserve a certain part of your life for yourself. I think press and people should respect a person’s personal life.On the career front you are on a roll after two consecutive hits TVSK and Singam-2?
Yes (Smiles) box-office success is what matters at the end of the day. I have to thank God, all my directors, producers and co-stars as cinema is all about team work. How has Biriyani shaped up?
It will be a sure shot entertainer. I play Priyanka, a journalist. From what I am told, people who saw the rushes of the first half say that it has shaped up so well. It is a black comedy thriller and is having a Sep 6 release. It was fun working with director Venkat Prabhu and Karthi. You’ve become one of the busiest stars in K-town. How do you handle your schedule?
I enjoy my work and for me its either shooting, hearing scripts or some meetings lined up. On off days I am either planning for the next day’s shoot or trying to catch up with sleep. My life is very simple and non-complicated (Laughs)Your decision to work opposite a newcomer like Sivakarthikeyan after being a part of biggies have raised a few eyebrows?
Now you know that it is script of which excites me along with the banner and director? I heard the narration of Maan Karate
and loved it. Do competition between actresses create insecurities?
No, I am a very secure person. My only challenge is to do a better job with each film.
