The jailhouse treatment program where former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey works has earned a spot at the Sundance Film Festival and accolades from the U.S. Justice Department.

McGreevey is spiritual counselor to 40 women in a pilot program at Hudson County Correctional Center to keep them from returning to jail. The program offers addiction, counseling, job skills and education services.

The Justice Department cites it as one of two top re-entry efforts nationwide.

Therapist Frank Mazza says women who complete the program are less than half as likely to return to jail within a year as those who had no treatment.

The struggles of the women as well as McGreevey's own admission that he is gay and resignation as governor are the subject of a documentary showing at Sundance this month.
