Meipporul is not another formulaic Indian movie. It is the pioneering venture of three Bay Area friends who aim to set a new trend in Tamil cinema–a movie without any of the standard formulas in it. In fact, Meipporul is a "Hollywood-style movie in Tamil".
Filmed entirely in the San Francisco Bay Area in the US, Meipporul has a diverse and new international cast–Krish Bala, Anusha, Narayan Sundararajan, Ritu Bhargava, Rani, Suren Vijaykumar and Natty Kumar.
The film is jointly directed by Natty Kumar, son of T N Janakeraman (the well-known South Indian film producer of Mogamull fame), and Krish Bala. Narayan Sundararajan is the assistant director.
Renowned film editor and director B Lenin has edited Meipporul, while Christopher Eldridge, a Hollywood cinematographer, has wielded the camera. The background music has been composed by John Mazzei–who has several Hollywood films, documentaries and the Oprah Show to his name.
Meipporul is of two hour duration and will have English subtitles in the US. The film will hit theatres soon in San Jose, Los Angeles, New Jersey and Detroit as well as in India.
