Today, Madras High Court lifted the stay order issued against the makers of actor Vijay’s upcoming film with director Atlee from using the title Mersal.

A petitioner named Rajendran had filed a case saying that the makers used Mersal title from his film Mersalayiten and requested the Madras High Court to issue stay order against Sri Thenandal Films to use the title Mersal in advertisements.

Sri Thenandal Films' lawyers argued that  in the past,  films like Tamizh and Tamizhan released on the same year and there were no confusions. On hearing the arguments from both the sides, the honorable Madras High Court lifted the interim stay order and dismissed the case filed by Rajendran.
